November Close Up…Pre-K 3 9-1 Class

Mrs. Laura’s and Mrs. S’s Pre K 3 9-1 Class

Our class is looking forward to learning all about the First Thanksgiving.  We are learning how the Pilgrims came to America on the Mayflower and

how they met the Indians, who taught them how to live off the land.  They also learned that nothing goes to waste.  The Pilgrims were so Thankful for all that the Indians taught them, they had a Great Thanksgiving Feast together.

We will have our Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 23 and 24, 2021 in the Classroom.

October Close Up – Miss LIsa’s Pre-K 4 Class

Miss Lisa’s October Bulletin Board

Happy Fall!!!

With September apples behind us, our class looks forward to the cool weather October brings.  We are learning all about Fall and the changing seasons.  Our class will also continue to learn to accept and embrace our differences with kindness.  A class favorite is “The Legend of Spookley The Square Pumpkin” which teaches us that we are all special in our own unique way.  To further its message, the children adorn our October bulletin board with their own Spookley pumpkins to remind us that “…you can’t judge a book, or a pumpkin…by its cover.”

Summer at Good Shepherd 2021

In just a few short weeks, our summer program will begin on July 6st   We have had a very success school year thanks to our parents for their cooperation, and our staff for providing the best experience for your child while maintaining strict health and safety guidelines.

Arrival and Departure:  Upon arrival to the school, you will park in the parking lot.  Please do not park in the crosswalk in front of the school.  If you must park closer to the school, you may park in the handicap spots, or along the “no parking” area.

Please walk your child to the door.  At that time, you will indicate if your child is “all good” (e.g., no fever or covid symptoms) or “not good.”  You should be taking your child’s temperature and monitoring for symptoms prior to arriving at the school.  Your child will also be dismissed at the door.

Groups, Supplies, and Masks:  Children will be in one group (limit 20) and not mingle with other groups.  Lunches will be eaten together with the Teacher in the classroom.  Supplies will not be shared.  Therefore, we ask that you either supply the needed items, or purchase them from us.  Please see the SUPPLY LIST.  Masks are encouraged, but not required.  We ask that your child wear a mask in to school and then again upon dismissal.  We do not plan on asking them to wear masks inside the building while in their groups, or outdoors, unless you want them to be worn (Please let us know your choice).

Forms:  All forms and permissions must be completed, signed, and returned before the start of the program.

  • Registration Form
  • Summer Covid Procedures
  • Summer Permission slip
  • Universal Health Care Record and Immunization Record (if record on file is > 1 year)

If you are new to the school, the above, plus the following, must be completed and returned:

  • Emergency contact information
  • Child Release form
  • Information to Parents Document

Lunches and Snacks: Each day your child should bring a lunch labeled with his/her name on it. A morning and afternoon snack will be provided.  If you are arriving prior to 8:15 am, breakfast will be provided.  Tuesday and Fridays are Pizza Days.  You can purchase one slice for $3.00 or two slices for $5.00.  We bring the pizza in hot from the local pizzeria.  It is optional but very popular with students and parents alike!

Note:  No lunches will be heated or chilled.  Please provide an ice pack for cold items, and a thermos if you wish for your child to have a hot meal.

Potty Training:  If your child is beginning to potty train and is prone to accidents, please use pull ups and bring a pack of wipes for their use.

What to Bring:  On your child’s first day of school, please send a labeled plastic bag containing a change of clothes, and diapers/pull ups, if needed. If your child will be staying after 1 pm, please send in a small pillow and blanket for our daily” quiet time” in a plastic bag labeled with their name.

For your child’s safety, children should wear rubber soled, sturdy shoes to school such as sneakers.  Flip flops, backless sandals, dress up shoes, crocs, and similar style shoes, make it difficult for the children when they are playing outdoors or doing large muscle activities in the classroom.  Children who do not have the proper foot attire will not be allowed on the climbing equipment or participate in large muscle activities.

Children should also wear clothing that they can actively play in without worrying if they will be in trouble for getting dirty.  We do many hands-on activities with the children and do take precautions, but your help would be appreciated.

Water Days:  Water Play Days will be announced by the Teacher via Remind. You should receive the notification to sign up for Remind from your child’s Teacher on the first day.  On those days, please send your child in with their bathing suit under their clothes, along with a cover up.  We will not be changing children into dry clothes.  We anticipate that the days will be very hot, and they will dry naturally while having lunch in a shady outdoor spot.

Please apply sunscreen to them prior to coming to school.  Have them wear Sunscreen tops and/or hats if they are very sun sensitive.

We look forward to seeing your child this summer.  We are planning lots of fun activities, while building lasting friendships with others.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Summer Program 2020

Our Summer program began on July 6, 2020.   Things are looking a little different this year because of the NJ State requirements, but we hope that this will be temporary.  Our staff is flexible and willing to provide the best experience for your child while maintaining strict health and safety guidelines.

Upon arrival to the school, you will pull up to the driveway (by the No Parking Sign).  A staff member will come to the car for you to sign your child in, along with a health survey and temperature check.  It would be helpful for you to take your child’s temperature before leaving for school.

Children will be in one group (limit 10) and not mingle with other groups.  Lunches will be eaten together with the Teacher in the classroom.  Supplies will not be shared.  Therefore, we ask that you either supply the needed items, or purchase them from us.  Please see the Supply List and State Requirements for Programs to Reopen.

All forms and permissions must be completed, signed, and returned before the start of the program.
